Food, fuel and living

  • Find a Food Bank by Trussell Trust. If you're struggling to afford the essentials or need advice and support you can call one of their free helplines too.
  • OLIO connects neighbours with each other and with local businesses so surplus food can be shared, not thrown away. This could be food nearing its sell-by date in local stores, spare home-grown vegetables, bread from your baker, or the groceries in your fridge when you go away.
  • Too Good to Go is an anti-food waste app that lets you rescue unsold food from businesses to save it from going to waste.
  • Warm Welcome is an online directory of 'warm banks', designed to signpost anyone in need of warmth to a warm space to share with others. Venues range from libraries, community centres, faith-based spaces to cafes, sports centres, businesses, museums, and more. A year-round campaign, it also helps people feel less isolated and lonely.
  • View top energy saving tips from Money Saving Expert.
  • More energy saving advice from Citizen's Advice, including how to get a better deal, making a complaint, reading a meter, claiming back credit and more.
  • Check to see if you're eligible for a Winter Fuel Payment from the government.

Recording royalties

Over £1m distributed in royalties in 2024

The MU licenses performances of non-featured artists on commercial recordings and makes monthly distributions to musicians. If you're aware of any commercial audio performance you took part in as a session player that's being used on TV, film, or in advertising, contact us. Amid the cost of living crisis in the UK, it's crucial to get what you're entitled to.
