About us

We are a 400-capacity industrial warehouse venue on the Fish Quay in North Shields, North East England. We host a wide variety of live music, from indie and punk to electronic and soul, and are a key venue for A Stone’s Throw Festival.

There is an onsite bar with drinks, and festival-style street food traders.

Our spaces include:

• Main Hall: Room for 400 guests, ideal for headline shows and large-scale events.
• Downstairs Venue: 150-capacity space perfect for smaller shows, intimate gigs, and afterparties.

Both the main hall and downstairs venue are available for private hire for gigs, parties, and other events.

Accessibility

Salt Market Social is partially accessible. Artists can reach the main venue via a lift. While the usual green room is upstairs and not accessible, we can provide the downstairs space — which includes a private toilet — as an alternative green room. In this setup, the bar and audience areas remain in the main hall upstairs.

We are also open to receiving and implementing green riders.

Getting home

Salt Market Social is conveniently located in North Shields' Fish Quay area. The venue is easily accessible by public transport, including the Metro and bus services.

North Shields Metro Station is approximately a 15-minute walk from the venue, providing direct links to Newcastle and surrounding areas.

For those driving, there are nearby car parks available. The venue is also close to taxi ranks, ensuring convenient transport options for all attendees.
