Ethical Policy Ethical Policy of the Musicians' Union Last updated: 15 March 2021 Policy statement The Musicians’ Union recognises that it has a responsibility to behave ethically and we are committed to ensuring, as much as possible, that we work with organisations that meet the same standards. We will encourage employees, MU members, suppliers and contractors to consider this in their activities and build it in to any strategies and project planning. Responsibility The Deputy General Secretary, Naomi Pohl, is responsible for ensuring that the ethical policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met. Ethical behaviour The choices the MU makes regarding who we work with and support have an impact on our members and on wider society and must be aligned with the MU’s principles and values. The MU will seek to work with and actively support organisation and individuals that align with the MU’s Equality policy and the MU’s Equality Action Plan. The MU will not work with or support any organisations or individuals that: Incite violence or discrimination against a particular group Use dehumanising language to describe a particular group Distribute negative misinformation targeting a particular group Promote intolerance of a particular group in any way Invest in or partner with organisations that invest in or support human rights violations.
