Tribute to Peter Downing Cox

Peter was a talented drummer and vocalist, who was a member of the MU for 57 years.

Peter joined the MU in 1967.

Many will remember Pete as a talented and well respected drummer and vocalist. For over 60 years he played around South Devon, the West Country and further afield, as well as working on cruise liners including The Mauretania.

Loving husband of the late Tryph, and deeply missed by family, friends and fellow musicians. 13 December 1937 - 3 March 2024.

Peter joined the MU in 1967.

MU Represents Scottish Musicians at STUC Congress 2025

Last week we attended the annual Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) with MU Delegates Ronnie MacNiven, Ben Lunn and Calum Baird, who discussed the value of music education, fair work for musicians, the need for stability of the arts, and more. All of our motions were passed unanimously.
