UK Music, of which the MU is a member, has launched its biennial Workforce Diversity Survey to help the music industry, Government and other stakeholders understand where further improvements are needed in diversity and inclusion.

Launched in 2016, the survey aims to help break down the barriers holding back diverse talent and ensure people from every background can enjoy a rewarding career in the UK music industry, which employs around 220,000 people.

The survey is open to people working across the music industry, including freelancers, employees, business owners, educators and academics.

The survey tracks progress towards a more inclusive music industry

The findings will provide insight into where improvements are needed and where positive change is already taking place. While other surveys focus on the diversity of artists, the Workforce Diversity Survey also looks at those working behind the scenes.

The survey takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete, with findings expected to be published in early 2027. You can read the 2024 report here.

The survey closes on October 12. Data and privacy information is available via the survey link above.
