What we're looking for

We offer a number of opportunities for artists, including: 

  • Support through our artist development scheme for artists looking at venue spaces to perform at, with support from Venue staff, and our local and regional contacts
  • A range of flexible venue spaces to perform within, on fair deals
  • Artist residence rehearsal studio space to utilise in kind within our venue opening hours

About us

Over the years, Middlesbrough Town Hall has played host to many great names in music, including David Bowie, The Clash, AC/DC, Paul Weller, The Smiths and Richard Ashcroft. Middlesbrough Town Hall has also has kept it original roots of classical music, with the likes of Elgar and Johan Strauss to name but a few who have graced the stage with their excellence.

We are very fortunate to have an array of venue spaces available within the Town Hall, including The Courtroom (110 capacity), The Crypt (570 capacity) and Main Hall (1420 capacity).

Accessibility

 

The building is wheelchair accessible, and has step-free access from street level. The main entrance to the Town Hall is via Albert Road. An additional public entrance is located on Dunning Street.

There are a number of accessible toilet facilities in the building, as well as a baby changing facility.

The majority of spaces are accessible by lift. The only spaces which are not served by lifts are the balcony and gallery in the Main Hall. However the stalls area of the Main Hall is served by lift and is fully wheelchair accessible.

Getting home

Car: Middlesbrough Town Hall is close to a number of car parks.

Bus: Middlesbrough Town Hall is a five minute walk from the bus station. The bus station is also served by a taxi rank directly outside via the entrance/exit on Newport Road.

Train: The venue is a ten-minute walk from the rail station. The rail station is also served by a taxi rank directly outside via the accessible entrance/exit onto Bridge Street West.
