About the event
Want to know what it's like to work as a theatre musician and whether it's an area that might be applicable to you? We are delighted to be able to invite you to the first of our brand new "Make it Work" series of events, that focus on a professional musician talking about their experience of working in a particular sector.
Join us for our first Make it Work event with Steve Gilbertson, a professional drummer who has been working in musical theatre for over a decade, on shows such as Dirty Dancing in the West End and other well-known productions such as Evita and the Lion King.
Come and hear about what his every day work is like, how he got into the theatre work, his tips for success and ask him questions about his career.
The session will be hosted by Natalie McCool – BBC Radio One Playlisted and Award-Winning Artist, singer, songwriter and guitarist. Natalie will ask all the questions you've always wanted to about working in musical theatre.
Natalie and Steve will be joined by the MU's Hannah Senior, Officer for our North of England and Live Departments. Hannah will share information on how the MU supports theatre musicians, how we campaign on their behalf and negotiate working terms and conditions.
If you have any questions to ask of Steve or Hannah, you can ask them in advance by using the “Ask a Question” button once you’ve registered for the event through crowdcast.
