The MU’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team is excited to launch its first MU Future Leaders programme, a six-month training initiative designed to support underrepresented members who want to take a more active role in the Union’s democracy.

The programme will help participants develop skills in organising, campaigning, and activism, while building networks and knowledge to grow as union leaders. It specifically focuses on members underrepresented on MU Regional and Executive Committees, including disabled members, LGBT+ members, women members, young members, and members from the Global Majority.

Running from March to August 2026, MU Future Leaders is a pilot programme for 10 participants, with a bursary (terms apply) and travel, accommodation, and expenses covered for all in-person activities. Most of the programme will be delivered online, with a culmination celebration day at MU HQ in London.

Applications close at 5:00 pm on Friday 30 January 2026. Shortlisting will include a brief Zoom conversation to ensure the programme is the right fit.
