Belfast City Council is developing a new free Business Accelerator Programme for the Music Industry, aimed at supporting music professionals and businesses across the city.

The programme will bring together existing business support available through the Council’s Economic Development team under Go Succeed, alongside the development of a tailored, sector-specific package of support designed specifically for music businesses.

The targeted accelerator will also align with key industry events taking place across 2025–26, ensuring music professionals can fully benefit from the opportunities available in Belfast.

To help shape the programme, Belfast City Council is inviting individuals and organisations working in the music sector to take part in a short survey. Feedback gathered will inform the design and focus of the accelerator, ensuring it reflects the real needs of those working across the industry.

Shape support for Belfast’s UNESCO City of Music

Charlene Hegarty, MU Northern Ireland Regional Officer, said:

“In 2021, Belfast was designated a UNESCO City of Music. This global recognition focused on the power of music in the city’s identity and purpose – past, present and future. The title brings great pride and promise, and Belfast City Council have been committed to an evolving series of support aimed at uncovering the full potential of the musicians within our city.

“I am delighted to see 2026 begin with a further commitment from Belfast City Council. I would encourage all members to play their part in shaping this programme of support to ensure it represents what they need to thrive.”

The survey closes 31 January 2026 and takes approximately five minutes to complete. All responses will contribute to shaping this important new support programme for Belfast’s music sector.
