Rebecca Hammond (nee Stockwell) graduated from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2002; MMus PDOT. She subsequently pursued Historical Studies abroad, with Marc Vallon in Paris, and at the Abbaye-aux-Dames in Saintes.
Since then, she has pursued an international career as a bassoonist, specialising in Historical instruments from The Baroque through to the turn of the 20th century.
Rebecca was a founding member of The Oboe Band, whose research into the music of the Restoration Theatre has been of great value to the profession. Rebecca was a member of The Ensemble in Residence at The Royal College of Music between 2006-2008, and returns on occasion as a visiting adjudicator for graduate recital exams.
For almost a decade, Rebecca performed as a member of the French Orchestra “Les Siecles”, touring extensively, recording and performing repertoire spanning from the Baroque period to Contemporary.
Her freelance career is busy and vibrant; she has been invited as a visiting bassoonist in orchestras spanning the globe, from Norway to Russia, Israel, Palestine, Mumbai and Melbourne.

Rebecca is a regular performer with many world-class ensembles including The Academy of Ancient Music, The English Baroque Soloists, The English Concert, The Hanover Band, The London Handel Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and The Orchestre Romantique et Revolutionnaire.

Equally at home in the orchestral pit as on the concert platform, Rebecca has performed multiple seasons in such prestigious venues as Glyndebourne Opera, The Royal Opera House, and Garsington Opera. She has also enjoyed touring with The Royal Danish Ballet, and the Hofesch Schechter companies.

Rebecca has performed on a wide variety of commercially available recordings, most notably those by Glyndebourne Productions, The English Concert, The Oboe Band, Collegium Musicum 90, The Gabrieli Players, Les Siecles, and The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
