His deep knowledge of rare groove, jazz fusion, and soul has made him a highly sought-after musician for both live performances and studio recordings.
Andrew’s musical journey began in the UK during the 1980s, heavily influenced by early hip-hop culture, rare groove, and Latin jazz. Starting out as a DJ and breakdancer, he developed a strong connection to drum breaks, vinyl culture, and turntablism. This foundation naturally led him to percussion, which became his true calling. By the early 1990s, Andrew was an established Latin percussionist, drawing inspiration from influential figures such as Ray Barretto, Airto Moreira, Eddie Bongo Brown, and The Incredible Bongo Band.
Known for his ability to seamlessly integrate percussion into diverse musical settings, Andrew Sedman AKA “Prone” has performed extensively across the UK and internationally. His career has taken him to iconic venues including London’s Jazz Café, major European festivals, and stages in California, USA. Equally respected as both a musician and DJ, his versatility and musical sensitivity have earned him a strong reputation within the industry.
Andrew is also the husband of multi award winning Californian Soul / Funk Recording Artist Gina Sedman, with whom he shares a deep creative and personal partnership. Together, they continue to explore and expand the boundaries of soul, jazz, and funk, producing music that connects with audiences worldwide.
Andrew is always interested in session work, both live and recorded.
