Surrounded by various instruments like djembe, piano, concert flute, rattles, and recorders amongst others since early childhood - until a certain point in my life I had no serious inclination toward a specific instrument to learn, let alone master. I was going through life without my personal instrument in hand - until I was 20. Having heard the sound of the Ney flute for the first time and being shaken to my core, with my heart crying out: 'I must learn to sing through this flute!' A relationship of intense love and passion started to unfold between my reed flute and I. She became 'my instrument'. Other flutes like the Shakuhachi and Bansuri have touched me in a similar way. And to become an overall more flexible and competent musician, I also picked up the concert flute studying western classical music. Now, with 4 flutes in my arsenal, I blend genres and styles and explore different musical traditions as well as my own compositions.
