About Frances Forbes-Carbines
I am Frances Forbes-Carbines, a London-based violinist with a deep passion for performance, collaboration and the cultural world of classical music. As a solo violinist, I offer a versatile repertoire spanning classical masterpieces, contemporary works and custom compositions, and I'm available for events, recording sessions, and creative projects—including freelance violin contributions.
I have performed with ensembles such as the Basement Orchestra, London Euphonia Orchestra, London Gypsy Orchestra, and Bristol Symphonia, bringing expressive and committed playing to orchestral settings. My solo work can be heard on SoundCloud, where I share original pieces like "Pirouette" and other violin explorations that showcase my technical skill and artistic voice.
Alongside performing, I am an established writer and critic specialising in classical music, opera, and violin-related topics. My reviews and articles regularly appear in Classical Music Daily, offering insightful commentary from my perspective as both musician and scholar.
Holding an MA in Classics from the University of Bristol, I bring historical depth to my musical interpretations. As a proud Musicians' Union member, I am committed to excellence in violin performance and supporting the rights and community of fellow musicians.
