About Dee

My name is Dee (she/her), and I am a full-time guitarist and private music tutor. I have performed as a musician for almost 20 years, and have a BA Hons in Music.

I am actively seeking music performance, tuition and composing opportunities in the UK, particularly in the North of England, remote, or national musical acts. I can sight-read, and am accustomed to learning a lot of music for gigs in a short space of time.

Regarding performance, I have played in a wide variety of environments from small clubs up to festivals, and have also played guitar instruments multiple times for musical theatre shows.

I strive to be professional and personable on gigs. I am conscious to provide exactly what is needed and more, paying attention to musical details, performing with attitude on stage and being open & communicative with band members. I feel compelled to give 100% to every performance I make, to ensure that the audience enjoys the gig and that I deliver what was needed of me from the musical director.

As a tutor of guitar, I am comfortable teaching all ages and skill levels. My specialisms are electric and acoustic guitar, and I am most experienced in the genres of pop, jazz, soul, rock, and R&B.

Alongside guitar tuition, I am also able to provide lessons in music theory and sound engineering/music technology to people of any age or skill level.

I have a particular interest in helping adult learners to progress musically and achieve their goals in learning to play & understand music. However, I am experienced in teaching from primary-school age upwards, and, incidentally, am a parent myself to two young children.

I consider my approach to be open, supportive and inclusive. All my lessons are tailored to the needs of my individual students.

As an LGBTQ+ musician, I wish for everyone to feel safe and welcome when performing or receiving tuition with me.
