About Aaron James Hay
Performing musician for 18 Years. Tutoring for 10 Years.
I play live and record Drums for Wytch Hazel who I joined back in 2011, though personal reasons led me to spend some time away from the band in 2015, I then rejoined the band in 2022 and have since played shows alongside Megadeth, Bruce Dickinson, Judas Priest & Killswitch Engage to name a few. My bread & butter is Rock Music however being brought up in the Church environment, I have a depth of dynamic range and also a penchant for the more natural & responsive performance styles as opposed to triggers & electronics which I feel should generally be used to enhance ones peformance rather than be used as a substitute for technical skill.
A personal highlight of my career so far was playing mainstage at Bloodstock 2023.
Aside from Wytch Hazel, I have a strong urge to pass on my musical knowledge to young people. I tutor a small group of Drum Students and I mentor several bands in my home town, some of whom have gone on to graduate from LIPA University and Leeds Conservatoire to name a few.
I also involve myself in the Church and teach music as much as I can to the young people throughout the various Church networks in the UK.
