New BAPAM Healthy Performance Training Series to be Held in Cardiff

These introductory two-hour sessions are designed for performing arts professionals and students, and will outline risk factors and key strategies to maintain good physical health throughout a sustainable career.

The sessions focus on evidence-based practical skills and draws from research findings, performance experience, and proven clinical pathways.

Physical health and injury prevention

Friday 29 November 2019
10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Participants will learn how to avoid injury, identify the signs and symptoms of musculoskeletal problems, what to do to promote good health, and where to go for help.

Participants will learn how to avoid vocal problems and identify the signs and symptoms if they do occur, how to manage issues, promote good health, and where to go for help.

Keeping mentally well: managing performance anxiety

Friday 29 November
3:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Participants will learn skills for optimal performance practice including pre and post-performance techniques, how to identify signs of performance and arts-career related mental health problems, how to manage problems including performance anxiety, promoting good health, and where to find help.
