This year the event will be presented as a live and interactive virtual conference on Friday 15 May.

AIM House has previously been held at The Great Escape to provide a home and hub for independent music businesses at the festival. This year the event will be presented as a live and interactive virtual conference on Friday 15 May, hosted via the AIM House website, and powered by UK-based digital experience agency level8.

In recognition of the difficulties Covid-19 poses to the independent community and wider industry, the event will be free to access and open to all. To do so, attendees should RSVP on the AIM house website.

Programme of events

The full day of programming from AIM includes panels, workshops and speed networking sessions covering the latest key issues for the independent sector. Content for one of the three virtual 'rooms' will be delivered in partnership with CMU Insights, who also programme and present the core conference strands at The Great Escape each May.

Themes of discussion will focus on business areas that are still viable during Covid-19 – practical measures that attendees can learn from and enact straight away. Confirmed panel topics include ‘livestreaming for the long-term’, ‘building on sudden online success’ and a post-Covid-19 / Brexit visa workshop.

Attendees will also hear from members of AIM’s Climate Action Group (Ninja Tune, Full Time Hobby, Brownswood Recordings) and Julie’s Bicycle on sustainability, and Key Production will deliver the seminar ‘Vinyl Edition – Sustainability is Key’.

Speakers join the conference from companies including Brownswood Recordings, Full Time Hobby, GigRev, Julie’s Bicycle, Key Production, Ninja Tune, The Floor and Viva la Visa.

AIM Crisis Support for Contractors

To directly aid those suffering hardship as a result of lost work from Covid-19, AIM launched a Crisis Support Fund last month, aimed at contractors working in independent music. The fund is open to applications and pledges online.

MU General Secretary Raises AI Concerns with Prime Minister

The MU has welcomed the Government’s rethink on AI but has emphasised the importance of copyright reform to the Prime Minister. While the shift away from an opt-out system is positive, we continue to call for Government intervention to ensure musicians are fairly paid as AI licensing grows.
