We hope that being able to pay £1 for the first six months of membership will make the benefits of being part of a union more accessible to a wider audience.

The join for £1 scheme has been extended to previous members of the MU, provided that they haven’t been a member for the last five years. Last month we also opened this offer up to those who had previously been student members of the union, and the offer continues to be open to musicians who have never been members.

We hope that being able to pay £1 for the first six months of MU membership will make the benefits of being part of a union more accessible to a wider audience during this difficult time – and that those who take this opportunity to trial membership at a significant discount will find it well worth the full-price.

MU membership offers benefits for every musician

MU membership brings benefits such as:

Explore all membership services for musicians working or studying in the UK, and learn how being an MU member can make your voice heard to change lives of musicians.

An increase in membership numbers benefits everyone

We also hope that an increase in membership numbers from the scheme will keep down the costs for all members. Please spread the word to any musician you know who might benefit from being able to join for £1.

Our General Secretary Horace Trubridge said:

“We are pleased to be able to offer yet another easy and affordable route to membership of the MU. This time for musicians who have dropped out of membership. The Union works tirelessly on behalf of musicians and has played a leading role in advising the government during the pandemic.

We must do more, and with our members’ help we will. Come and join the only organisation in the UK that serves the interests of all musicians.

Check if you’re eligible for the scheme, and join the MU today and pay just £1 for the first six month.
