The MU and SOLT are working in collaboration to try to get West End productions back on their feet as soon as possible, with the safety of musicians in mind as well as the economics for all concerned.

Opening with partial capacity will obviously be extremely difficult. The Union and SOLT are lobbying the government for a support package to ensure survival of the theatre industry.

Both organisations are also involved in many high level meetings as the music business and wider creative industries plan for a phased reopening of workplaces.

The leaked letter was an early proposal, has been discussed by the relevant Union committee and negotiations have moved on.

Any variations to our agreements with Theatre producers would of course be thoroughly consulted on, including via a formal ballot of MU members engaged on suspended productions.
