Manifesto of the Music Makers panel

On Thursday 16 May, the Council of Music Makers (CMM) - the umbrella organisation representing the Ivors Academy, FAC, MMF, MPG and the MU - will present a full day of talks, discussions, case studies and insights as part of the industry conference.

For the first panel of the day, MU General Secretary Naomi Pohl will join the other four heads of CMM to inform delegates of its latest campaigns – from negotiations with Government on Creator Remuneration, to ensuring music makers have control of the use of their music, voice and likeness with the evolution of AI to campaigns on grassroots and international touring.

Costs and challenges of touring sustainability panel

MU Live, Theatre & Music Writers Official Natalie Witts-Kilshaw will also be joining a panel alongside our member Chris Roberts, to focus on the challenges of making touring sustainable.

They will discuss advice and tips, and answer your questions on how to tackle the financial challenges of domestic and international touring; from building green clauses into contracts with promoters, to taking care of your team’s mental and physical health on the road.

Attending the conference? Book a one-to-one with the MU for career advice

Natalie Witts-Kilshaw will also be joining our East/South-East Regional Officer Tom Eagle in offering one-to-one sessions for any of our members who are attending the conference.

Natalie (who can offer advice on Live, Theatre and Music Writer issues) will be available from Wednesday 15 May to Friday 17 May, while Tom (who can help with regional and all other issues) will be present on Thursday 16 May.

To book an appointment, please email Tom at tom.eagle@themu.org or Natalie at Natalie.witts@themu.org.

We are aware that some members have pulled out of the Great Escape Festival and/or have decided not to attend due to concerns about sponsorship.

The MU is here to offer guidance to any member wishing to boycott an event, as well as provide support to musicians who have been targeted due to their political activism.
