The Northern Music Network consists of a range of partners from across the North of England region, including: Bradford Producing Hub; Brighter Sound (Manchester); Come Play With Me (Leeds); Culture Liverpool; Generator (North East); Hull Music Net; Jazz North; Kycker (South Yorkshire); Music Local (Yorkshire); Nothin But The Music (Liverpool); The Glasshouse International Centre for Music (Gateshead) and existing MU partners Generator (North East) and Come Play With Me (Leeds).
The aim is to provide a united voice to support the music sector in the North of England, showcase Northern artists' talent, share best industry practice, and provide opportunities to promote a sustainable and inclusive music industry.
The organisations intend to broaden the range of partners and form a network that truly reflects the multi-faceted nature of the Northern music industry.
Following panel discussions about the network at Launchpad (Leeds) and Sound City (Liverpool) Conference, the Network will hold a drinks reception, supported by PPL, at The Great Escape Festival this weekend in Brighton. Attendees will be able to meet the organisations, alongside exploring future partnerships and finding out more about Northern artists performing at the festival.
We look forward to working with the network
Paul Reed, MU Regional Organiser for the North of England said: “As a Trade Union now representing 6,200 musicians across the entire North of England region, the MU naturally welcomes the formation of Northern Music Network.
“We look forward to working with the network to build on existing partnerships, form new alliances, contribute meaningfully to the conversation, and continue to represent and support our members across the North”.
The formation of the network follows several major labels setting up shop in the North, including EMI and Warner Music UK. Find out more about the Northern Music Network.
