What is CULT Cymru and how it works

CULT Cymru is a learning project (Creative Unions Learning Together) led by BECTU in partnership with Equity, the Musicians’ Union, the Writers’ Guild and the Wales TUC.

CULT Cymru works with industry workers, employers and other organisations to arrange learning activities and networking events for creatives, including musicians, throughout Wales. The MU's Regional Office for Wales and South West England is leading on this partnership.

Learning activities offered by CULT Cymru

The project includes various types of learning activities:

  • Business skills (e.g. becoming freelance, marketing and promotion, bid writing, networking, CVs…)
  • Digital skills (e.g. website creation, social media, file sharing, podcasting, photoshop, CAD….)
  • Role specific (e.g. voice coaching, music masterclasses, music writing for games….)
  • Statutory (e.g. accredited – health and safety, first aid at work, fire safety…)
  • Mental health and wellbeing (e.g. mental health first aid, resilience, mindfulness…)
  • Equality and diversity (e.g. social model of disability, cultural awareness, creating accessible rehearsals….)
  • Coaching and mentoring / Train the Trainer

The events relevant to musicians are advertised on the MU website and are advertised to its members by email. See our upcoming events.
