MU statement on the situation at the ENO

The MU expresses its dismay and disappointment regarding the news that Mark Wigglesworth has decided he is unable to continue as English National Opera Music Director.

The Musicians’ Union released a statement on the current situation at the English National Opera (ENO).

Bill Kerr, Musicians’ Union (MU) National Organiser for Orchestras said:

“The MU expresses its dismay and disappointment regarding the news that Mark Wigglesworth has decided he is unable to continue as ENO Music Director.

“During his tenure, Mark Wigglesworth’s musical direction achieved world-class artistic excellence in an otherwise difficult period for the company which secured him the trust and respect of the members of the orchestra.

“With Mark leaving there is now concern for the future of the company.”
