Acting Regional Organiser for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Sam Dunkley, was pleased to attend the All Party Group on Arts at Stormont at the end of November. Chaired by Sian Mulholland MLA, who spoke at this year’s SNI AGM.

The meeting heard a report from John Ball, Head of Arts Branch at the Department for Communities on the next steps to delivery of ‘Investing in Creative Delivery’ – the Culture, Arts and Heritage Strategy Taskforce Report.

Karly Green, Director of Strategic Development & Partnerships at Arts Council of Northern Ireland gave an update on priorities and development of a 10 year strategic plan for ACNI 2024-2024.

Sam said, “It is important that the MU has a presence and a voice in the All Party Group on Arts on behalf of our members in Northern Ireland. We look forward to seeing the detail of the two strategy documents presented at the meeting and will respond to the consultations in the spring.

“Without proper funding for the arts, and a sitting Executive, it will be difficult for these plans to have the impact and reach to which they aspire.”
