About the event

Sadly many people in the creative industries live with poor mental health, and the number of people considering taking their lives in the sector is much higher than the workforce in general.

This interactive workshop is aimed at those working in the creative industries in Wales, especially if you’re in a supportive or supervisory/management role e.g. Wellbeing Facilitators, Mental Health First Aiders, Mentors, Union Representatives, Heads of Departments, Producers, Employers etc.

Workshop content

The Suicide Awareness and Prevention course has been designed to enable you to identify signs that someone is thinking of suicide, and to give you the confidence to help support them.

By the end the session participants should be able to:

  • Understand the prevalence and the impact of suicide in the UK
  • Identify the possible indicators that may be associated with someone who is having thoughts of suicide
  • Recognise the risk factors associated with suicide
  • Learn how to respond appropriately to someone who is having thoughts of suicide
  • Realise how your attitude can impact your response to someone who is having thoughts of suicide.
