About Jemma Love
Jemma Love is a London-based saxophonist and woodwind doubler active on the commercial and musical theatre circuit. She made her off-West End debut in 2022, playing in Are You As Nervous As I Am? (Simon Spencer Productions/Greenwich Theatre). Jemma regularly works with DJs, most notably renowned international DJ Joshua Roberts; and function bands, work which has taken her all around the UK and Europe, and recently as far as Bahrain. In musical theatre, Jemma has played for six shows held at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, and has played for productions at Laine Theatre Arts School (A Little Night Music), Mountview (Guys and Dolls), Momentum Performing Arts Academy (Cabaret) and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Fiddler on the Roof).
Recent commercial engagements include the UK Tours of Bowie Experience, Back Into Hell - A Tribute to Meatloaf and Jim Steinman and Believe - The Cher Songbook, as well as Suron Ki Mehfil Bollywood UK Tour, a performance on personal finance show The Martin Lewis Money Show (Shiver Productions/ITV Studios), Sleeping Beauty (Enchanted Entertainment/Tyne Theatre and Opera House) and Cinderella (QDos Productions/Theatre Royal Plymouth).
As a classically-trained saxophonist and clarinettist, Jemma has performed in several orchestral and opera performances. She is the first-call saxophone the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra 2022-23 season and performed for the Woman of the World Orchestra’s Sandi Toksvig’s Mirth Control on International Women’s Day at the Royal Festival Hall. She enjoys playing for opera, and was involved in two world premieres at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Originally from Epsom, Jemma graduated with first class honours from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2021. From 2015-17 she studied at the Junior Department of Trinity College of Music where she was awarded the Cassal Prize for Woodwind. She was also a member of the National Youth Music Theatre from 2019-2022 performing for the Growl UK Premiere Tour, Chess (Leicester Curve) and Ragtime (The MCT at Alleyn’s).
Alongside her busy performance career, Jemma is the woodwind teacher at The Laurels School in South Norwood and Kingswood House School in Epsom. She has writing on music published in Clarinet and Saxophone Society Magazine and presents a weekly segment on musical theatre specialist programme ‘The Saturday Score’ on Radio Shields.
