Launched at SXSW 2024, UK Sounds is an online hub to support and champion music from all four UK nations.

The platform offers a variety of useful resources, information and tools for artists considering working overseas to expand their audience and develop their career.

The new platform is designed to amplify and champion UK talent

UK Sounds aims to facilitate networking and performances for UK-based artists and businesses, and is designed to empower artists, creators and businesses on the global stage.

UK Sounds also comes at an opportune time to develop advice and guidance on securing visas for work overseas.

A much-needed resource for musicians looking to work overseas

Dave Webster, MU Head of International, comments: “UK Sounds is a much-needed resource for musicians which will no doubt grow as it becomes more established. It was great to see the platform being launched at SXSW last week.

“The MU has, for many years, been a proud partner of the International Showcase Fund (ISF) and despite the challenges musicians face when working overseas, it's clear that the talent emerging from the UK is as strong as it has ever been. UK Sounds is a key resource.”

International support and information for music export under one roof

Becci Scotcher, Senior Grants and Programmes Manager at PRS Foundation says: “We’re delighted to have launched UK Sounds last month for UK-based music creators and showcase presenters to utilise.

Music export is incredibly important for music creators' careers

“Music export is incredibly important for music creators’ careers and we’re excited that artists looking for international support and information around exporting into different territories will be able to find it under one roof on UK Sounds.

“Additionally, it has become more essential to collectively promote UK artists and partner events and to help facilitate connections and international business under one umbrella, and we’re looking forward to UK Sounds continuing to develop into that role.”
