International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia

This year, we’re proud to be doing more than ever to support, engage and celebrate our LGBT+ members.

On 17 May, people around the world mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia.

2017 is also the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales. This year, we’re proud to be doing more than ever to support, engage and celebrate our LGBT+ members.

The Musicians’ Union (MU) is sponsoring the fantastic Prides got Talent.

We’ll also be marching with members at London Pride, UK Black Pride and Manchester Pride. If you’d like to march with us in London or Manchester, spaces are limited so please email equalities@theMU.org to secure your place.

The freedoms that LGBT+ people enjoy in England and Wales are not felt by LGBT+ people across the world.

Did you know that 74 countries still criminalise homosexuality, and in 10 countries homosexuality is punishable by death?

In Chechnya gay men are being abducted, tortured and killed because of their sexuality. This cannot continue. LGBT+ people in Chechnya urgently need help to ensure their safety.

Please lend your support by signing this petition organised by Amnesty International.

You can also sign up to Amnesty’s LGBTI Network to receive emails when there's an LGBTI case that needs your help.
