The Council of Music Makers (CMM) is running a free webinar and Q&A session on the economics of music streaming on Tuesday 25 February.
CMM comprises the Musicians’ Union, Featured Artists Coalition, The Ivors Academy, the Music Producers Guild and the Music Managers Forum.
Ensure music-makers are properly credited and paid
In the last two years, the UK music industry has agreed codes on metadata and transparency with the aim of addressing some of the key issues with music streaming.
This webinar will explain how music-makers can get the most out of these codes and ensure that everyone involved in making music is properly credited, efficiently and accurately paid.
There will also be an update on ongoing work to address other issues with music streaming, including around music-maker remuneration, and how you can help support that work.
Better understand your digital music business
The webinar is open to artists, songwriters, musicians, studio producers and music managers, as well as lawyers, accountants and other business advisors who work for music-makers.
It’s aim is to help explain how music streaming generates income, including:
- What metadata needs to be submitted with each new recording
- How music-makers, managers and their business partners can access and submit the metadata
- How you can better understand how each music streaming service pays royalties
- How your labels, distributors and publishers should be reporting streams and payments
- Key questions to ask your business partners to better understand your personal streaming business.
