About the event

Join professional producer and composer Matthew Whiteside for a practical session on how to self-release your music. Covering everything from budgeting and rights registrations to digital distribution, Matthew will guide you through the process with insights, tips, and hard-won lessons to help you avoid common pitfalls and take control of your music release.

What we’ll cover:

  • A general introduction to releasing music, digital distribution and streaming
  • Setting a realistic budget (income and expenditure)
  • Preparing for and running recording sessions
  • How to get your music on the major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer etc.)
  • Various rights and registrations that you need to know about to ultimately get paid
  • Using the artist analytics dashboards.

By the end of the workshop, you should understand the process of how to get your music out into the world.

This course has been organised with the help of Pete Bayliss, Union Learning Representative for the Musicians' Union.
