Make a Noise This Wednesday 13 January #InvestInMusicians

Call on the Government to invest in musicians, so that you can continue to make music during the pandemic and bounce back as the industry gets on its feet.

To make the case for investing in musicians, we need to make the following things clear to the Government:

  • Musicians are highly skilled, entrepreneurial, community minded people
  • You invest heavily in your work
  • Without further investment from the Government, too many musicians are likely to leave the music industry forever – leaving our £5.8bn music industry without the people who actually make music

We need as many musicians as possible to call on the Government to #InvestInMusicians.

Representing Our Scottish Members at STUC Congress 2024

This week we attended the annual Scottish Trades Union Congress with MU Delegates Christine Cooper and Ben Lunn, who discussed the importance of music education, community arts in Scotland and establishing a Music Expo Office for the country. All three of our motions were passed unanimously.

Deadline Approaching for Funding From Alan Surtees Trust 

The Alan Surtees Trust makes up to four awards of £2,000 annually to support performers aged 16 to 30 with projects rooted in, or influenced by, folk or traditional music of all cultures. The deadline for applications is April 30.
