Rates of pay for freelance players effective from 1 April 2026

Rates of pay per 3 hour session

	Single Session Fee	Rolled Up Holiday Pay (14.54%)
Section Principal	£114.33	Payable for each pay period
Principal	£99.40	Payable for each pay period
Sub Principal	£94.76	Payable for each pay period

Seating rehearsal payment: £19.86 per seating rehearsal

Specialist Instrument/ Doubling fee: £39.18 per session

This covers:

• Clarinet, Contrabass clarinet
• Bassoon, Heckelphone
• Trombone, Bass trumpet
• Lyre (AK Giselle)
• Bass Trombone, Cimbasso
• Trumpet, Piccolo trumpet
• Flute, Bass flute

Stage performance: £9.42 per performance

Sunday travel: £26.78 per half hour of train scheduled journey time.
