About Keira Kenworthy

Born in Melrose, Scotland, daughter of a rock drummer. I picked up the bass in her early teens and then went on to study at the Leeds College of music. I have been dubbed the ‘mistress of groove’ and her playing style has been developed from her diverse influences including James Jamerson, Andy Fraser, Neil Murray, Alan Woody, Nathan East, Jaco Pastorius and Victor Wooten. I excel at playing a wide variety of musical styles including rock, blues, funk and soul and has established herself as a go to bass player and is building a sizeable following.
I’m a highly experienced performer, with many years of working and touring widely in the UK and internationally and appears on several recordings. She toured with Australian rockers Tequila Mockingbyrd in 2017, and in Germany with orchestral art rock band The Red Paintings. She has toured for many years with Blues Guitarist Troy Redfern. She was a founding member of Syteria, featuring Jackie Chambers of Girlschool she moved on after 5 years joining the critically acclaimed band JoanOvArc in 2019. They have just completed recording their new EP 'ESCAPE THE FIRE' which has received critical acclaim and airplay on both Planet Rock and Kerrang! Radio and are about to embark on a UK tour.
Current projects include playing bass for Swiss AC/DC Tribute band BACK:N:BLACK and touring with Red Giant, featuring critically acclaimed social media guitarist Dave Simpson.

I have also worked with various function bands over the years. Performed at Holiday parks and from 2022 -2023 did a 1-month residency in the middle east.

I have also collaborated with a variety of musicians and artists such as Tal Bergman, guitar great Haim Romano, and many others. In Sept of 2024 she performed a special charity concert and documentary for Women’s Aid at Templi Di Paestum with Italian actress and singer Valeria Altobelli and her project Mnemosyne and The Muses.

I have endorsement deals with Markbass, Rotosound UK, Flattley Guitar Pedals, DiMarzio and GHS Strings. I also teach bass guitar for over 6 years and am a registered teacher for RSL awards.
