About Kamilla Dunstan

Originally born in Yorkshire, Kamilla later emigrated to New Zealand to return to the UK aged 18.

Kamilla is a graduate of Royal College of Music International Opera School. Previous studies include a Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and a Masters in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Kamilla is currently studying with Claire Rutter.

Kamilla made her English National Opera debut as Waltraute in Richard Jones's new production of The Valkyrie (Wagner) (November-December, 2021) and sings Preziosilla in La Forza del Destino with Fulham/Regents Opera (February/March 2022).

Kamilla will cover the Singer in the Royal Ballet's production of Like Water for Chocolate by Joby Talbot at the Royal Opera House in June 2022.

Kamilla was awarded 2nd Place at the Lyra New York International Vocal Competition (November, 2021).

Last year Kamila made her solo debuts at Glyndebourne Tour as Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte- Mozart) and Suzy/Lolette (La Rondine- Puccini) at West Green House The Opera Garden.

Kamilla covered Eurydice Woman, one of the lead roles in English National Opera's production of Birtwistle's opera The Mask of Orpheus, October-November 2019.

On October 13th 2019, Kamilla made her Wagnerian debut as Floßhilde in a concert performance of Das Rheingold at the Birmingham Symphony Hall with the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Michael Lloyd.

In 2017 Kamilla was a Alvarez Young Artist and covered the role of Zaida in Garsington Opera’s production of Il turco in Italia (Rossini)

November 2018, Kamilla was selected as a finalist with pianist Joe Howson for the Maureen Lehane Singing Competition at Wigmore Hall.

The summer of 2016 Kamilla was a part of the Opera Centre at the Aspen Music Festival & School (USA) under a prestigious Polonsky Fellowship.

Kamilla is also a Samling Artist (2014), Wagner Stipendien (Bayreuth, 2015) and a Young Alvarez Artist (2017).

Roles include Fanny Price (Mansfield Park), Naomi (Ruth)- Pegasus Opera, Faramondo (Faramondo) with the London Handel Festival, Ramiro (La finta giardiniera)- International Opera School of the Royal College of Music, Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel)- IOSRCM, Ariodante (Ariodante)-LHF, Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus)- IOSRCM, Dorabella (Così fan tutte)- Clonter Opera, Ninetta (cover) (The Little Green Swallow)- British Youth Opera and Julia Grant (Appomattox)- Leeds Youth Opera.


Kamilla was selected from a number of conservatories as a soloist to perform Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, which was broadcasted live by BBC Radio 3.

Other engagements include performances with the English Chamber Orchestra and the Coldstream Guards.

Kamilla is an ABRSM Scholar and kindly supported by a Help Musician’s Tutton Opera Award and the Josephine Baker Trust.

Kamilla also runs her own private teaching studio, Vivo Music Studio just outside of Doncaster (details can be found on professional website). Students have been offered places at some of the UK's leading performing arts schools in the UK such as the Royal College of Music, Urdang Academy, Performers College, LIPA.
