The Government’s Self-Employment Support Extended to Musicians on Work Visas

Last week, the Home Office confirmed that the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) is available to migrants who are self-employed and have no recourse to public funds.

We are delighted that one of our lobbying asks has been answered – thank you to everyone who wrote to their MP asking for better support.

Extending SEISS to cover musicians in the UK under working visas, such as the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa, was one of the seven demands we’ve been asking members to write to their MPs about, and that we’ve been lobbying for.

Take action for musicians

You can see the impact that calling on the Government has made. However, it's important to keep the pressure on to ensure no musician is left behind – there are more gaps in support that need closing.

Personal stories really do help. They show MPs the truth of the situation and give them case studies to show Government that it is urgent.
