Self-employed musicians who are eligible for the SEISS scheme will be able to claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their average trading profits up to a maximum of £7,500 (equivalent to three months’ profits), paid in a single instalment.
The government have also released new guidance on how different circumstances affect SEISS claims which you may find helpful to read on their website.
As of Monday 4 May, HMRC has begun to contact customers who may be eligible, but they are also inviting the self-employed to complete an online check on their website.
Once you have completed the online check, you will be given a date for when you’ll be able to submit your claim.
To complete the check quickly, you will need to:
- Have your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) and your National Insurance Number to hand
- Make sure your details are up-to-date on your Government Gateway account
Complete the online check on HMRC’s website.
