About Daniel Finch

Daniel Finch aka zenith soundscapes — A Music Composer, Post-Production Specialist, Tutor and Flautist. A versatile audio professional who works for the love of storytelling and has challenged traditional approaches by placing narrative and emotional resonance at the heart of his work, with impressive attention to detail.
His work falls on the intersection of music, technology, and the natural world. Daniel’s musical style is emotive and recognisable defined by creative sound worlds that blend live musicians and electronic sounds — with work featured in video games, short films, and theatre. Emotional enrichment is core to Daniel's musical philosophy, inspiring him to write authentically. Whatever the field, he crafts a sound unique to the project through instrumentation, harmony, or technology. As well as working professionally in music, Daniel is also an educator, encouraging others to learn, develop their skills and foster passion.
With a background as a classically trained Flautist and studying Music Theory, Production and Piano, Daniel earned a First Class Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree in Music Composition & Technology. His journey began in school orchestras and flute performances, eventually leading to writing scores for short films, video games and ambiences. Through performing, recording, and creating synthesised musical instruments, Daniel formed a distinct compositional style. Like Ludwig Göransson, he often performs many instruments himself, then Daniel layers reverberant textures to build atmospheric foundations that enhance emotional impact.
Few mediums shape emotions as powerfully as games, film, TV, and theatre — and Daniel uses both composition and production to elevate these stories, enhancing everything from fear and intensity to love and joy. From his very first score, he has consistently pushed his experimentation further, searching for creativity in storytelling. His unconventional use of instrumentation and technique including experimentational reverbs or distortions sets him apart. Daniel’s music has been influenced by Murray Gold, Jeremy Soule, Marcin Przybyłowicz, P.T. Adamczyk and Lena Raine among other talented composers.
Alongside his work as a Composer, Daniel refined his music theory, technology and post-production skills, now excelling in this space. He has since arranged and conducted for live musicians and MIDI orchestrated large works. Versatile, Daniel crafts unique, complex, and enjoyable productions but enjoys both transparent and creative arrangements, engineering, mixing and mastering. Daniel is also a Music Tutor, encouraging the skills needed to become a versatile modern musician. These days, musicians are expected to have knowledge of technology alongside their instrument or composition skills. He believes that guiding students in these areas is important, as it helps them become self-sufficient and improved musicians. With music more accessible and diverse than ever, Daniel inspires students to try out new areas and create something unique.
Daniel’s recent projects include MIDI orchestrating Wagner’s ‘Tristan und Isolde: Concert Prelude (1859)’, leading the audio design for the play ‘Hidden Voices’, and composing for the animated short film ’Pocket Planet’. In addition to commissioned work, he has been writing for his artist project, zenith soundscapes.
