About Catherine Browning
Undergrad and postgrad at The Royal Academy of Music, studying violin with Derek Collier, followed by 2 years orchestral playing in Paris and 15 years freelancing in London, before relocating to Devon.
Session work and recording for TV, radio and film and extensive touring with string sextet 'instrumental', including performances at WOMEX, Berlin, TIME ZONES, Bari/Naples, MUSICA VISUAL, Lanzarote, Venice Biennale, and LAGOS, Nigeria, with multi genre artists including Femi Kuti, Nitin Sawhney, Bryan Ferry, Mercury nominated 4Hero, Big Brovaz, Faze Action and Chris Bowden.
Recently completed an MA in Arts and Place working in sound and film. Final project film "Puritan's Pit Choir shown at Dartington 2024, film short 'Lemon and Lime' (10m) shown as part of ACT with Arts 2025.
