About Georgia Cooke
Georgia Cooke (1994) is a British flautist and composer, living and working in London, UK. She studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under Anna Noakes, and previously at Brunel University with Colin Riley, Peter Weigold, Sarah Nichols and John Croft, achieving a first-class honours degree in music and the Sheridan Award for Music Performance.
Georgia composes in several styles, from contemporary minimalism, to 21st century romanticism. Writing primarily for flute, Georgia runs a flute choir called The Silver Pencils, where she performs her original works. They held a residency at SET in Dalston in 2018, and now play venues around London including St Alfrege Church, Greenwich, and the Hundred Years Gallery. Notable performances of other works include Hebe (2017), premiered at The Old Royal Naval College Chapel by Anna Noakes, Freyr Sigurjónsson, Gabriella Dall’Olio and Leo Nicholson. Layla (2019) premiered by Duo Villanesca at St Mary’s Church, Frinton-on-Sea.
Alongside composing, Georgia freelances as a flautist around London, playing a range of genre from free improvisation to popular music. She is the flautist in the award nominated Ensemble Entropy, a free improvisation group run by Matt London, and plays with producer Indian Man in his band Gundhi Brothers.
