CULT Cymru (supported by Wales Union Learning Fund) is a learning project led by Bectu, Equity, The Musicians’ Union and the Writers’ Guild. Working with industry workers, employers and other organisations to arrange learning activities and networking events for creative workers in Wales.

As part of the Empowering Freelance Creatives project funded by Creative Wales Skills fund, CULT Cymru have recently appointed 12 Freelance Union Learning Reps across the four unions. CULT Cymru are therefore happy to introduce Pete Bayliss, Elizabeth Owen and Dewi Ellis Jones as Wales ULR’s for the Musicians’ Union:

Their role in the coming months will be to:

  • Help raise awareness of learning
  • Identify the learning needs of a particular group of workers;
  • Collaborate with unions, employers and other stakeholders;
  • Help organise formal and informal learning activities that are relevant, affordable & accessible;
  • Organise peer-to-peer networks;
  • Sign-post to other training providers/support organisations

Their aim is to connect with musicians/composers/music tutors/ producers and those who are new or interested in pursuing careers in the industry to discover where the skill gaps are and what training is needed. Hopefully together we can work on enhancing and strengthening skills, improve well-being and enable and empower musicians to advance in their careers.

So if you’re a musician working or living in Wales we would like to hear from you! Please complete this short learning survey so that we can assess what skills and training events you would like to see:
