About the event

The MU will be visiting the Isle of Man next month to hold a members' event at the Villa Gaiety Theatre, a historic cultural venue, located in the heart of the island's capital city of Douglas.

Hosted alongside our sister union Equity, the gathering will bring together professional musicians and performers from across the IOM, to network and celebrate their shared passion of music.

The social will provide an opportunity for union members to:

  • meet MU Regional Officer Philip Morris and Equity National Organiser Alice Lemon, who will share ideas on how best to collaborate to overcome the unique challenges encountered by musicians working on the Isle of Man.
  • hear from the IOM Government’s Department of Education, Sport and Culture Minister, Daphne Caine MHK, attending in her personal capacity as a longstanding member of Equity. She is also a board member of Culture Vannin, and always happy to connect with those who work to enrich the island’s cultural landscape.
  • watch a live performance by celebrated Manx folk and blues songstress Christina Collister, who is showcasing works from her recent album 'Children Of The Sea'.

The evening will conclude before 10:00 pm, and all attendees will receive:

  • complimentary refreshments
  • an MU tote bag filled with promotional and campaign materials.

How to attend

The MU makes every effort to ensure that all events we organise are accessible to everyone who would like to attend. We want to provide equal access to our events for all of our members.

If you have any access requirements you would like us to be aware of, or if you will be attending with a personal assistant/support worker, please email us via noe@themu.org, at least one week ahead of the event.

Wheelchair access is available at the venue.
