About Ragtime Jug Orchestra

John is one half of The Ragtime Jug Orchestra, a duo playing a good-time mix of ragtime, country blues, skiffle and jugband music from the levees of St Louis, the Beale Street bars of Memphis, the back hills of Tennessee, cotton fields of Mississippi and the sportin' houses of New Orleans.
John Anderson - vocals, 6 & 12 string and National guitars, kazoos and jug.
Alan Draisey - vocals, 6 string guitars, Dobro, mandolin, harmonica and washboard. The RJO also offer a variety of audio-visual performance presentations and workshops for adults and children and are experienced at getting the audience involved. The RJO have been playing at national and local festivals, parties, folk and blues clubs, pubs and bars around the Welsh Borders, South Wales, Bristol and the Midlands since 1999. Festival appearances include: Linton Blues, Swansea Blues, Upton Blues, Liecester City Blues, Colne Great British R&B, Gloucester Rhythm & Blues, Two Rivers Folk, Crawley Folk, The Big Session Folk, Sumer Sundae, Musician Bluegrass & Old Timey, Jazz at Llandeilo, etc. Over the years John and Alan have supported/played with many well-known artists, including: Bob Brozman, Guy Davis, Paul Geremia, Dave Kelly, Steve James, Lazy Lester, Michael Messer, Big Bill Morganfield, Louisiana Red, Michael Roach, Jerry Ricks and Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan. They also ran the Blue Front Bluesroom venue (www.bluefrontbluesroom.org) from 2001-2011.
