About James Hughes

I have been a session musician for the last decade, working across the country as a drummer and bass guitarist. I am one half of North East acoustic duo Maria & James, and as a part of that duo, I have been involved in the release of a new album (Nov. 2023) 'Chapters', an EP entitled 'Ex Animo' that has over 30,000 streams on Spotify and Apple Music which also features Steely Dan drummer Keith Carlock, as well as a Christmas album entitled 'Seasons Greetings' which is streaming on Apple Music. Maria & James have also performed at a number of events and venues around the North East such as The Forum, The Hippodrome in Darlington and in various venues in Newcastle. We perform a range of covers too, ranging from rock to folk to popular music.
