Members and non-members who work in music education are warmly invited to the MU’s 2021 Education Conference, to be held at Resonance – a new, state-of-the-art music college in Dudley. The conference, running on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 October, will comprise two full days of CPD sessions and seminars, plus a social evening on the Friday.
The conference will include a broad and varied selection of CPD sessions and seminars. We are currently finalising the programme and will announce details shortly. In the meantime, we have set up a survey for anyone who would like to contribute programming suggestions (please note, this survey closes on 23 July).
Subsidised tickets and discounted hotel stays
The MU is subsidising the conference for members. This means that members can get a two-day ticket for £65 and a one-day ticket for £40. Non-members can book a two-day ticket for £150 and a one-day ticket for £90.
Two-day tickets include a free pass for the social evening on the Friday, which includes a meal and entertainment. You can book tickets through our Eventbrite listing. Members who are unable to afford tickets due to financial hardship can contact us confidentially at education@theMU.org.
The MU has arranged a discounted hotel offer for delegates who wish to stay over on one or more nights. The offer is for the Copthorne Hotel which is a two-minute walk from the conference venue.
Single occupancy rooms are offered for £70 and double occupancy (including twin) for £80, bed and breakfast included. As an added incentive, the first 30 MU members to book hotel rooms will receive a further 50 percent discount (single £35 and double £40) subsidised by the MU.
If you would like to book hotel accommodation, please email education@theMU.org and we will arrange this for you.
Providing inspiration as we emerge from the pandemic
Chris Walters, the MU’s National Organiser for Education, said:
“We are delighted to be making a return to in-person events, and to be able to revive our popular CPD conference for music teachers. As we emerge from the pandemic, we are sure that this conference will provide inspiration, networking and a valuable CPD top-up for the academic year ahead.”
While we hope to welcome as many delegates as possible in person, we will be recording some sessions with a view to offering training in different formats after the event. If you have any questions or special requirements regarding this event, please email education@theMU.org.
In the unlikely event that the conference cannot go ahead due to coronavirus restrictions, delegate tickets and hotel rooms will be fully refunded.
