Join the MU Procession at Tolpuddle Festival 2024

The MU are once again heading to Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival, which takes place just outside of Dorchester, 19-21 July. The annual event celebrates the spirit of trade unions with workshops, live performances and more - and we’re inviting members to join us in the march.

There has been an annual gathering to mark the story of the Tolpuddle Martyrs since the 1930s, and the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival is now a significant event in the trade union calendar.

Set in the sleepy village of Tolpuddle, just outside Dorchester in rural Dorset, the festival takes place 19-21 July and has a rich variety of workshops, speeches, panels, live performances, and an opportunity to meet like-minded people.

The jewel in the crown of the festival is the Sunday procession. Starting at 2:00 pm, this free to attend march though the village is the highlight of the weekend. With many attendees walking under their union's flags, it is an inspiring and exciting celebration of the trade union movement.

  • Date: Friday 19 to Sunday 21 July
  • Location: Tolpuddle, DT2 7EH
  • Ticket price: Tickets vary depending on entry type (full weekend, parking, camping etc), but it is free to attend on Sunday 21 July (car parking charges apply). Check the festival’s ticket page and book online.
