The Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG) Act 2020 has put in place a small number of temporary measures to support the delivery of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
There will be a need for buskers to request authorisation from the CWG organisers by the deadline of 8 July 2022 in order to perform.
You can request a license via the application forms provided by the CWG's advertising and trading authorisation page.
Who needs a licence?
The following list of people will need to obtain a licence from the Games people to continue to trade. This includes busking.
- Those trading in certain areas around the games
- or around the live sites (free viewing sites for public) and
- from both these sites to the train stations
Which areas require authorisation?
The Midlands locations requiring authorisation are:
- Alexander Stadium
- Birmingham City Centre
- Cannock Chase Forest
- Coventry Stadium and Arena
- Edgbaston Stadium
- Lee Valley VeloPark
- Marathon Course
- The NEC
- Road Race Course
- Sandwell Aquatics Centre
- St Nicholas Park
- Sutton Park
- Time Trial Course
- University of Birmingham
- University of Warwick
- Victoria Park
- West Park
Please note: Restriction dates vary across the different locations from 21 July 2022 to the end of 10 August 2022.
