Funding Applications Open for Youth Music Projects in Scotland

Individuals, organisations and networks in Scotland can apply for funding for CPD to support their youth music project. Applications close on 31 March 2025.

Individuals, organisations and networks who deliver youth music projects in Scotland can now apply for funding to support their training and continuing professional development (CPD).

Strengthening youth music projects in Scotland

Provided by the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) through Creative Scotland and managed by the Scottish Music Centre, the fund aims to strengthen youth music in Scotland for the benefit of children and young people.

Funding can cover:

  • Professional development such as training courses, conferences, masterclasses, mentoring, etc.
  • Private tuition that will lead to improved skills in a particular genre or instrument
  • Development, design and delivery of specialist training courses
  • Study visits to research delivery methodology
  • The use of new technology to deliver innovative music-making activities.

Awards to individuals will generally be within the range of £100 to £1000, while the range for Organisations will normally fall between £500 and £5,000. Please note that partnership funding of at least 10% is required. This can be cash or in-kind.

Eligibility and how to apply

The fund is open to individuals, organisations and networks who are based in Scotland and working for the benefit of young people in Scotland.

Applicants must complete an application form, as well as additional required materials.For full details on how to apply, download the application guidelines on the Scottish Music Centre website. 

Applications close on 31 March 2025.
