Government did not consult the sector, despite repeated claims it did

Text against the photo of students: What they say: there was a consultation with input from this sector; The MU view: this is false-not all of the sector could input

What they say: there was a consultation with input from universities and others

Example of this claim in use:

This quote from an MP in response to a letter from an MU member: “The consultation was carried out with input from universities and other voices in the sector, to ensure that all views were considered.”

The MU view: this is false not all of the sector could input

The MU understands that consultation was shared with university leaders, but that lecturers, students, trade unions, and other higher education and creative industry stakeholders were not made aware of it.

It only included one question about the 50% Government funding cut.

And the consultation process didn’t seem to consider accessibility. Not only was it was poorly advertised, but the time frame was short and the questions were difficult to navigate for those not clued into the jargon or detail of how HE funding works.
