Members in Wales Urged to Apply to Freelance Fund

The Welsh Government’s Cultural Recovery Fund – £53 million of support for arts and culture in relation to Covid-19 – includes a specific Freelancer Fund with £7m of funding.

The eligibility information for the Freelancer Fund is already available on the Welsh Government’s website, and we understand it will be updated with further information next week.

The fund will open for applications on Monday 5 October.

We would strongly advise members based in Wales to check if they are eligible for the fund as soon as possible – and to then apply for the fund as soon as they can after it opens, especially if they have fallen through the gaps of UK and Welsh Government support so far.

We hosted a meeting for MU members to discuss the fund with Gerwyn Evans from Creative Wales on Tuesday 29 September. We will keep members informed of any similar events moving forward.

Representing Our Scottish Members at STUC Congress 2024

This week we attended the annual Scottish Trades Union Congress with MU Delegates Christine Cooper and Ben Lunn, who discussed the importance of music education, community arts in Scotland and establishing a Music Expo Office for the country. All three of our motions were passed unanimously.
