The Future of Funding for Culture in Dorset: Have Your Say

Dorset Council are proposing significant changes to how funding is awarded to organisations in the culture, community, and voluntary sectors in the county.

The Council is reportedly considering cuts of 10% and has launched a public consultation, with a survey, into the future of funding for the culture, community, and voluntary sectors in the area.

The MU is concerned by some of Dorset Council's proposals, and particularly the news that they may be considering funding cuts of 10%, which would have a significant effect on arts and culture in Dorset as well as our members' work.

We would encourage all MU members who live and/or work in Dorset to complete the survey and give their views on the Council's proposals. You have until 11 March 2020 to respond.

Black Lives in Music Launch YourSafetyYourSay Survey on Bullying and Harassment in the Music Industry

The survey will inform government legislation, the work of the new Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority and the wider music industry. It will also be used to support BLiM’s forthcoming Anti Racist Code of Conduct. Members are encouraged to share their experiences.

Representing Our Scottish Members at STUC Congress 2024

This week we attended the annual Scottish Trades Union Congress with MU Delegates Christine Cooper and Ben Lunn, who discussed the importance of music education, community arts in Scotland and establishing a Music Expo Office for the country. All three of our motions were passed unanimously.
